Super Rare Bored Ape Breaks BAYC Record With Over 1000 ETH Sale

Super Rare Bored Ape Breaks BAYC Record With 1080 ETH Sale

Welcome to the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC): The ultra-prestigious collection of NFTs created only nine months ago and steadily churning in million-dollar sales to the bewilderment of non-NFT crusaders. Now things just got exciting for club members with the record sale of the ultra-rare gold fur bored sailor ape for $2.85 million — the highest of any bored ape purchases since inception.

Bored Ape #232 is a gold-furred ape donning a white sailor cap and a black and oxblood taekwondo jacket. Added to its features are the iconic sleepy eyes and bored ape mouth. The total value of ETH splashed on its sales is 1080.69ETH.

Bored Ape was all about a collection of minted jpegs of static apes before Hollywood celebrities jumped on the bandwagon and slapped some prestige on a few out of the 10,000 unique NFTs. Canadian pop star, Justin Bieber, world female tennis champion, Serena Williams, American basketball star, Steph Curry, Successful hip hop artist Eminem, and the iconic Brazilian footballer Neymar Jr have all ventured into purchasing different versions of Bored Ape NFTs, drawing a ton of clout to the project.

The resulting hype has caused BAYC to shoot through the roof in metrics, taking in an average of $290,000 in weekly sales and close to $105 Million in trading volume over the same period. Sales for any of the projects begin at a starting price of 118.99 ETH ($330,198) making it one of the most expensive price floors for any NFT collection. Currently, there are over 6,000 bored ape NFT owners with the last 20 purchases amassing up to $13.65 million in ETH.

Many of the Bored Ape transactions are carried out on top NFT trading platforms like Rarible and OpenSea. Both platforms have been fraught with losses because of attacks from hackers over the past few months. The last attack on OpenSea saw close to $800,000 worth of ETH (approximately 332 ETH) catered away by hackers who had altered the algorithm to purchase these NFTs at incredibly low prices. 3 bored apes, 2 mutant apes, one genesis cyberkongs, and a cool cat were among the NFT items stolen.

Pak’s The Merge still holds the record for the highest-grossing NFT after a record $91.8 million in sales which displaced Beeple’s Everyday by a whopping $21 million.
